Personnel Update - March 2023
On Mentoring:
60+% of all desk leads and equity owners joined the firm at intern or entry level. From the days when Ray Cahnman started onwards, TMG has been through generations of growth through passing on expertise to new team members.
TMG prides itself on equipping junior team members with the skills they need to succeed early in their careers with us. New employees/interns on your desk are not an additional cost: they are growth, multiplying your impact by learning to do what you do and freeing you up to develop your best ideas, and adding to the firm by bringing their own talents to the way we do things.
Successful employees will find themselves managing/mentoring junior staff, which both gives opportunities for the next generation of traders to emerge and frees senior staff up for higher value tasks and the development of new ideas.
Intern season is right around the corner, and it’s beneficial to keep in mind the benefit the impact you can make as a mentor.
Sourcing great candidates:
A large number of those potential junior team members find us via LinkedIn, so please leverage these LinkedIn and email signature resources to boost our online presence and help grow our team.
Note: While internally we use “TransMarket Group” to talk of the group of trading companies in Chicago, there is actually no “TransMarket Group LLC” - so for email signatures and LinkedIn profiles, please don’t use the LLC suffix.
Referrals Update:
Greenhouse, our new application tracking software, has the ability to create custom links that you can email and post on your social media. These links are tied directly to you to make sure you get credit for your referral. Shortly after this email, if you do not already have a greenhouse login, you will be emailed one. Here are instructions on creating links. Moving forward please share your personalized link rather than emailing referrals@transmarketgroup.com with resumes.
Personal Trading Policy Reminder!
As our business is a trading business and every full-time employee is contracted to give his or her full time and effort to their work at our firm, no personal account trading is allowed.
Team members may hold long-term investment accounts in which transactions should be very infrequent, and no orders should be placed during regular working hours.
We trust you know the difference between investing (long-term view, few transactions per year, minimal mindshare in the day-to-day) and trading, but if you have questions about that, feel free to reach out to personnel@transmarketgroup.com.
